Tyne and Wear is a ceremonial county in North East England. It borders Northumberland to the north and County Durham to the south. The county contains the two cities of Newcastle upon Tyne and Sunderland. The notable towns in the county are Birtley, Blaydon Felling, Gateshead, Hebburn, Hetton-le-Hole, Houghton-le-Spring, Jarrow, Killingworth, North Shields, South Shields, Tynemouth, Wallsend, Washington and Whitley Bay.
