About Belfast Trojans
Formed in 2006 by players disillusioned with the now defunct Belfast Bulls, the Belfast Trojans entered the Irish American Football League the following year. A proactive recruitment drive in 2011 brought an influx of new talent, helping the side finish the season 6-2 and claim a Northern Division title. Since joining the IAFL, the club has amassed six Shamrock Bowl championships, winning in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2019 and 2025, with four consecutive victories between 2012 and 2015. Multiple Northern Division crowns have followed, including unbeaten regular seasons that saw the Trojans top the division for the first time since 2008. Domestic dominance secured entry to the EFAF Atlantic Cup, where the team captured the GFLI Atlantic Cup in Groningen, Netherlands, after defeating the Ghent Gators and the host Groningen Giants. Beyond senior competition, the organisation runs a Flag Football side that offers a fast-paced, non-contact alternative for local enthusiasts. A youth programme for 15- to 18-year-olds competes in the national youth championship, having finished third overall in its inaugural campaign. The club also honours its most influential figures through a Hall of Fame, with an inaugural class of five founding members recognised for their contributions. Supporters can follow fixtures, purchase season tickets and acquire club merchandise via the official website, while regular news and updates keep the growing fanbase informed. Sponsorship from local businesses underpins the Trojans’ operations and community activities.
