City of Manchester Institute of Gymnastics

About City of Manchester Institute of Gymnastics

A purpose-built gymnastics centre in Gorton offers children of all ages access to specialised coaching within a registered charity that has served the Manchester community for six decades. The club’s coaching team includes British Gymnastics-qualified experts, overseen by Director of Coaching Colin Leigh, whose vision shaped the facility into a dedicated training environment equipped with modern apparatus. Classes span the full development pathway, from Pre-School and Foundation sessions for beginners to the High Flyers programme for advanced athletes. A competitive track supports gymnasts aiming for regional, national and international events, and participants travel from Manchester, Salford, Failsworth and surrounding towns such as Bolton, Bury, Chorlton, Oldham, St Helens, Sale, Liverpool, Stockport, Farnworth, Wigan and Leeds. Regular internal competitions—including floor and vault contests, seasonal festivals and team-gym events—provide performance experience, while the club’s history of champion gymnasts includes representation of England and Great Britain at World Championships, Commonwealth Games and the Olympic Games. Taster sessions are offered on a limited-time basis, and prospective members are encouraged to enquire via the website’s contact page, which also lists coaching opportunities.
