About Glasgow Raptors

Founded in 2015 as the Glasgow Alphas and rebranded to the Glasgow Raptors in June 2021, the club places inclusivity at the heart of its identity, offering a safe space for anyone who wants to play rugby in Glasgow and the Clydebank area. The Raptors field a men’s rugby union side, a women’s rugby union side introduced in April 2023, and a mixed-gender touch team launched at the same time, ensuring that players of any gender, sexuality, race, age or experience level can take part. Their aim is to make the sport accessible and comfortable for LGBTQ+ individuals while remaining welcoming to all. As a member of International Gay Rugby (IGR), Glasgow Raptors compete in a variety of tournaments, including the Northern IGR League, the Union Cup, Hadrians Cup, Touch My Brum and Enfys 7s. These fixtures showcase the club’s commitment to both competitive play and the promotion of diversity within the sport. Beyond the pitch, the team engages with the local community, having joined the main sponsor at Glasgow Pride 2025 and celebrating its ninth birthday on Saturday 12 October with a gathering at Delmonica’s. Updates and news are shared through Instagram and Facebook, keeping supporters informed of events, matches and inclusive initiatives.
