About Sheffield Giants

Formed in 2008, the Sheffield Giants introduced American football to the city’s sporting scene. The club re-branded in 2016, adopting the Giants name as a tribute to the Steel City Giants that folded in the 1980s. Based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, the team competes under the banner of an American football club. Open to participants of any age, experience level or athletic ability, the Giants run multiple squads so that every newcomer can find a side that matches their skill set. Whether a beginner seeking to learn the basics or a seasoned player looking for competitive matches, the club provides a structure that accommodates the full spectrum of interest. The organisation operates from facilities within Sheffield, allowing members to train and play locally. By maintaining a clear link to the city’s historic steel-industry nickname, the Giants reinforce a sense of local identity while offering a distinctive team sport that differs from the region’s traditional football codes.
