London’s The Hanging Stars return with their sixth album, Just A Day, a collection of four-part harmonies, shimmering twelve-string guitars and chiming songs. Recorded at Edwyn Collins’s Clashnarrow Studios in the Scottish Highlands, the album features a new line-up and production by Gerard Love of Teenage Fanclub. The band has stripped back to bass, drums, guitars and four-part harmonies, creating a leaner sound that draws on influences such as The Byrds and Big Star. Montelimar, a Newcastle-based guitar band, open the night, blending shimmering guitars, psychedelic textures and infectious melodies.
