Caretaker

Caretaker Wyvern Academy is a secondary school in Darlington, County Durham, operating as part of Consilium Academies. The role is based on the school site and reports to the Site Manager, contributing to the day-to-day upkeep of the premises and supporting the smooth operation of the learning environment.

The position offers a permanent full-time contract within the Grade 4 SCP 6–8 pay band, with a salary of £26,847 to £27,709 per year. Hours are full-time and available throughout the academic year. The successful candidate will be expected to carry out planned and reactive maintenance, manage building security, monitor systems and equipment, respond to emergencies, and assist with grounds and housekeeping duties. Essential requirements include experience in facilities or maintenance work, knowledge of building repairs and health and safety procedures, organisational ability, and competence with ICT systems. A willingness to undertake First Aid training is also required. Desirable qualifications include an IWFM Level 2, NVQ Level 2 in Caretaking, trade skills in plumbing or electrical work, or relevant certifications such as IPAF or PASMA. Experience in an educational setting is advantageous.
