About this role
The role is for a GP Training Programme Director within NHS England’s East Midlands region, based flexibly across Leicestershire and other East Midlands office locations. The position is part of the Trainer the Trainer Faculty and involves leading educational delivery for nine months of the year, including three five-day courses, various two-day and one-day refresher sessions, while the remaining three months are dedicated to supporting local GP training programmes and ARCP panels, with assistance from other Training Programme Directors. The post is permanent and offers a salary of £117,904 to £122,819 per year, pro rata, for part-time hours with a flexible working pattern, including the potential for job sharing. Applicants must be registered medical or dental practitioners with a current licence to practise or a Certificate of Completion of Training in Public Health, hold relevant College or Faculty membership, and have recent experience in NHS clinical practice or within two years of leaving such practice. Essential experience includes a strong understanding of NHS structures, a proven track record in educational leadership and service delivery, and familiarity with GP training frameworks in the East Midlands, particularly around blended learning and simulation-based instruction. Desirable criteria include a postgraduate qualification in education, prior leadership in postgraduate GP training, and awareness of healthcare education funding. The role requires adherence to NHS Constitution values, a commitment to equality and diversity, and the ability to manage complexity with innovation and objectivity. Applications close on 18 October 2026 and must be submitted through the original advert.
