About this role
The Outpatients Reception Team Leader position is based at Tameside Hospital in Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester, and is part of the Outpatients Service within Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust. The role involves leading a small reception team across general outpatient areas, ensuring patients are welcomed, directed to the correct clinics and that appointments and follow-up activities are accurately recorded using the Trust’s patient administration systems. The post requires managing the weekly rota for reception staff, carrying out supervisory duties such as back-to-work interviews, workload allocation and basic training, and occasionally handling physical tasks related to patient records. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining high standards of customer service, accuracy and confidentiality while supporting both clinical and non-clinical staff.
Applicants must have five GCSEs at grades A-C or equivalent, be computer literate, and have recent experience in a high-pressure customer service environment. A background in NHS administration or familiarity with the Lorenzo Patient Administration System is desirable, as is prior supervisory experience. The role is offered on a permanent basis with a 37.5-hour week working across Monday to Friday, including weekends and bank holidays as required, on a rotating schedule that covers early and late shifts. The salary ranges from £25,760 to £27,476 per year, and the position provides access to benefits such as flexible working, annual leave, NHS pension and wellness support. Applications must be submitted by 14 October 2026 via the original advert.
