About this role
The role is a postgraduate teacher apprenticeship based at Breakwater Academy in Newhaven, East Sussex, where the apprentice will work as a class teacher alongside experienced staff. Full-time hours are fixed for 12 months starting on 1 January 2027, and the position leads to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), a Level 6 Teacher Apprenticeship and a Level 7 PGCE. The apprentice will be paid on the UQ1 national scale and will receive a free school lunch while working in the school.
Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree, have GCSEs in English, Mathematics and Science at grade 4 (C) or above (or equivalent recognised by ENIC), and demonstrate proficiency in both English and Mathematics. Experience of working with children in an employment or voluntary setting is required, and the candidate must be eligible to work in the UK and have lived there for the past three years. The role is subject to an enhanced DBS check, social-media screening and satisfactory references.
