About this role This is an opportunity within the Clinical Health Psychology Service at Royal Preston Hospital, part of Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The position involves delivering specialist psychological assessments, formulations and evidence-based interventions to adults recovering from hospital admissions or living with long-term physical health conditions, injuries or neurological changes. The role rotates across outpatient and inpatient pathways, offering involvement in multidisciplinary team work, service development and training of other professionals.

The employer seeks candidates with a BSc in psychology recognised by the BPS, a doctoral qualification in clinical or counselling psychology, or a postgraduate diploma in high-intensity CBT, alongside registration with the Health and Professions Council or the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies. Essential experience includes work in physical health settings, assessment and treatment of long-term conditions, and collaboration within multidisciplinary teams. Desirable qualifications comprise training in clinical supervision, research methodology, health psychology, EMDR, compassion-focused therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The post is band 7 under the Agenda for Change pay scheme, with a salary of £49,387 to £56,515 per year, and is offered on a permanent, full-time basis.
