Consultant Acute Physician – Peterborough joins a forward-thinking team at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, based at Peterborough City Hospital. The role involves delivering acute medical care across the Medical Assessment, Short Stay and Ambulatory Care Units, working alongside an integrated emergency department and same-day care service.
The position requires a qualified physician with MRCP or equivalent specialist accreditation, full GMC registration and a licence to practise. Essential experience includes completion of a recognised training programme in acute or general internal medicine, expertise in managing adult acute medical presentations, and the ability to work calmly under pressure while prioritising workload. Leadership experience, strong IT skills and demonstrable involvement in clinical governance are also required, with desirable qualifications including higher degrees, an ALS certificate and experience in service development. Effective communication skills and the capacity to teach and supervise junior staff are essential.
The post is permanent and full-time, with a salary of £113,565 to £150,569 per annum and a typical on-call rota of one in six. Shifts are flexible, ranging from 08:00 to 16:00 or 12:00 to 20:00, and part-time arrangements are available.
