About this role

Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust seeks a Pharmacy Assistant Technical Officer (ATO) to join its Pharmacy & Medicines Optimisation Team at Haywood Hospital in Stoke-on-Trent. The role supports the efficient supply of medicines across the Trust’s three main hospital sites and community hubs, working under the supervision of senior pharmacy professionals. Responsibilities include accurately dispensing medications according to SOPs, managing stock orders and storage, conducting routine inventory checks, maintaining clean and organised dispensing areas, and handling routine reception duties such as answering calls and processing prescription inquiries. The postholder will also assist with temperature monitoring of refrigeration units, secure medication returns, and coordinate transport for urgent deliveries, ensuring compliance with pharmacy protocols and Trust values.

The position offers a permanent contract within Band 2 of the Agenda for Change pay scale, with an annual salary of £25,272. Candidates must demonstrate strong customer care skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in basic IT systems, including use of the pharmacy’s computer platforms. The Trust provides extensive support for professional development, flexible working arrangements, and benefits such as 27 days annual leave (rising to 33 with service), free parking, flu vaccinations, and access to health and wellbeing resources. Travel between community sites is reimbursed, and salary sacrifice schemes are available for vehicles and bicycles. Applications must be submitted via the original advert by 15 October 2026, with no visa sponsorship offered. This opportunity is ideal for those beginning their pharmacy career, requiring no prior experience but a commitment to accuracy and patient-focused service.
