About this role
The role involves delivering hands-on support on the Birch Acute Cardiac Unit at St Peter’s Hospital in Chertsey, working directly with patients under the guidance of a registered nurse or midwife. It combines routine personal care, nutrition monitoring, vital-sign recording, safe mobilisation and infection control with opportunities to develop clinical skills such as venepuncture, cannulation and ECG recording after appropriate training.
Applicants must have at least six months of experience as a healthcare support worker in a care setting, a Level 2 English and Maths qualification and either hold the Care Certificate or be prepared to complete it within six months; a level 3 health-social care qualification is desirable. The post is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act, so a DBS check will be required, and sponsorship for a visa is not available.
