The role is based in the Blood Sciences Essential Services Laboratory at Guy’s and St Thomas’ in London, working as part of Synnovis Analytics’ 24/7 pathology partnership. It involves rotating through Blood Transfusion, routine Haematology and Coagulation, with potential future work in Biochemistry, using systems such as Winpath Enterprise, Bio-Rad analysers and Sysmex equipment. The position is permanent and full-time, reporting to a Senior Specialist BMS or Operations Manager, and includes responsibilities for issuing blood products, processing specimens, maintaining quality systems and training less experienced staff.

The employer seeks a state-registered BMS with experience in blood sciences, capable of handling complex investigations and troubleshooting, and familiar with operating laboratory equipment under safety standards. Registration with the HCPC and willingness to work unsocial hours are required. Pay falls within Band 6 of the Agenda for Change scale, ranging from £47,950 to £56,863 depending on experience, and includes access to Synnovis’s Development programme, Innovation Accelerator Fund and Academy for advanced qualifications and research opportunities.
