Ward Clerk - Ashgrove (INTERNAL)

The role is an internal vacancy for a Ward Clerk on the 24-bedded Ashgrove Frailty ward at Hereford County Hospital, part of Wye Valley NHS Trust. The position involves being the first point of contact for patients and relatives, handling face-to-face, telephone and email enquiries, arranging appointments and transfers, maintaining medical notes and ensuring accurate admissions, transfers and discharges are recorded. Working with a multidisciplinary team of nurses, doctors, physiotherapists and other professionals, the clerk will communicate with internal and external departments, utilise telephone, fax and email systems and keep information up to date at all times.

Applicants must be computer literate, able to manage time, solve problems and communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. An IT qualification is desirable, as is some knowledge of the hospital environment. The post is permanent, offered on a part-time or job-share basis within Band 2 of the Agenda for Change pay scheme, with a salary of £25,272 per annum pro rata.
