About this role
The role is a permanent consultant position in paediatric palliative medicine based at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, part of Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust. The post involves delivering specialist care to children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions across the Trust and the wider West Midlands, working within a multidisciplinary team that provides family-centred services in hospital, community and network settings. The successful candidate will lead on complex symptom management, advance care planning and end-of-life care, contribute to service development and clinical networks, and support the training of junior professionals. The post is expected to consist of eight whole-time equivalent posts, with flexibility to meet service needs, and offers a salary between £113,565 and £150,569 per year. Applicants must hold full GMC registration, be on the specialist register for paediatric palliative medicine, have substantial clinical experience at a senior level, and demonstrate service development and audit experience. Essential requirements include a valid Level 3 safeguarding qualification, BLS certification and MRCPCH or equivalent. Desirable criteria include APLS training, higher qualifications and research experience.
