Consultant Psychiatrist - General Adult - Neighbourhood team

The role is a permanent full-time Consultant Psychiatrist in General Adult Mental Health, based at the Psychiatric Outpatient Department in Rochdale’s Birch Hill Hospital. The post replaces a retiring neighbourhood team consultant and sits within the Living well/Neighbourhood Model, offering daily advice to GPs, clinical leadership for a multidisciplinary team and participation in service redesign across HMR-Rochdale.

Applicants must be fully registered with the GMC and either already on the Specialist Register or within six months of obtaining a CCT in General Adult Psychiatry. Essential qualifications include an MB BS or equivalent and full GMC registration with a licence to practise; desirable qualifications comprise an MRCPsych or equivalent and higher degrees in medical education, research or management. Essential clinical skills involve expert knowledge, bio-psycho-social assessment, strong communication and decision-making under complexity, while desirable experience includes a track record of teaching, research or service evaluation and leadership of audits.

The post carries a salary of £113,565 to £150,569 per annum and offers permanent terms, full-time hours and opportunities for additional private practice work subject to negotiation. Closing date is 1 November 2026 and applications must be made through the original advert.
