About this role
The role is based at the Community Stadium site in York, where a permanent, part-time position is available for a Specialist Optometrist working 7.5 hours on a Tuesday within the Retinal Treatment Clinics. The post sits within Band 7 of the Agenda for Change pay scale, offering a salary of £49,387 to £56,515 per year, pro rata. Applicants must hold a BSc in Optometry and be registered with the General Optical Council; desirable qualifications include postgraduate training in medical retina and a non-medical prescriber certificate. The successful candidate will assess patients referred to the RTC and Macular Clinic, determine the need for treatment and manage follow-up under the supervision of Consultant Ophthalmologists. The post involves close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of ophthalmologists, orthoptists, nurses and administrative staff, and includes responsibilities for clinical record-keeping, data-protection compliance and contributing to teaching and continuing education.
