Specialty Doctor in Anaesthesia and Critical Care

Specialty Doctor in Anaesthesia and Critical Care will be based at the Trust’s Smethwick site, working within a large anaesthetic department that delivers services across acute surgery, obstetrics and a 32-bed critical care unit. The role involves a resident on-call rota (1:10) covering evenings and nights, as well as daytime duties providing anaesthesia for elective and emergency procedures and supporting outreach to deteriorating patients. Applicants must hold a recognised medical qualification, an anaesthesia qualification and full GMC registration with a licence to practise, and they should have post-CT2 experience in anaesthesia and critical care, including obstetric work under consultant supervision. Essential attributes are the ability to teach clinical skills, conduct clinical audit and work effectively in a multidisciplinary team, together with the energy and enthusiasm to manage high-pressure environments. The post is permanent, full-time and falls within the Hospital Medical and Dental Staff pay band of £63,696 to £102,689 per annum, with access to a CESR mentorship programme, flexible job planning and educational development.
