About this role

About this role The position is based within the preschool and Year 2 classrooms of Old Cleeve Church of England First School in Washford, Somerset. The successful candidate will spend two days each week delivering early years practice in the preschool, delivering play-based learning and supporting children’s communication, language and personal development. They will also work two days a week alongside teachers in a Year 2 class, helping pupils access the curriculum and make progress. The remaining day will be assigned according to school needs.

The role requires experience of working with young children in an early years setting and a solid understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage framework. A relevant qualification such as an NVQ Level 3 in Childcare or equivalent, together with a current DBS check, is essential. The school offers a part-time contract of 25.6 hours per week across five days, term time plus five INSET days, with a salary of £25,614 to £26,016 full-time equivalent (pro-rated to £15,226 to £15,465 for the part-time arrangement).
