Biomedical Scientist

The role involves rotating through the Microbiology Department at University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust, providing accurate laboratory results for patient diagnosis, treatment and monitoring. The position is based at the Trust’s site on Tremona Road in Southampton and operates on a 24/7 shift pattern, including earlies, cores, lates and nights, with weekend and bank-holiday rotas required. The successful candidate will work alongside a team of Biomedical Scientists, Associate Practitioners and medical colleagues, ensuring compliance with the Pathology Quality Management System and maintaining high standards of professional competency. Essential qualifications include an HCPC-approved Biomedical Science degree and current HCPC registration; evidence of ongoing professional development is also required. Desirable experience includes prior work in a medical laboratory and proficiency with Microsoft Office and hospital IT systems. The post is offered on a permanent basis within the Agenda for Change pay band 5, with a salary of £32,073 to £39,043 per year.
