Clinical Psychologist

A clinical psychologist will be appointed on a fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave within the paediatric psychology service at Southampton Children’s Hospital. The role is based at Southampton General Hospital and involves providing specialist assessments and therapy for children with diabetes, brain tumours, spinal conditions and neuro-rehabilitation needs, working closely with families and multidisciplinary teams.

Essential qualifications include a doctorate in clinical psychology and current registration with the Health Professions Council. Essential experience covers specialist assessment and treatment across outpatient, community and inpatient settings, and the ability to communicate complex clinical information sensitively. Desirable experience includes work in diverse cultural contexts, knowledge of specialised therapies and consultation skills. The position is offered under the Agenda for Change pay scheme at Band 7, with a salary of £49,387 to £56,515 per year. The contract runs for nine months, with part-time and full-time options ending in June 2027 and November 2027 respectively.
