Consultant Gastroenterologist

Consultant gastroenterologist needed to join a dedicated team at Practice Plus Group Hospital in Shepton Mallet, Somerset. The role involves delivering diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy services, including upper and lower GI procedures, in a modern, patient-focused environment. You will run outpatient clinics, work closely with a multidisciplinary team, and contribute to clinical governance, audit and quality improvement, while also supporting the training of the wider endoscopy team and engaging with national endoscopy forums.

The position requires full GMC registration with a licence to practise and JAG accreditation for independent upper and/or lower GI endoscopy. Essential experience includes substantial work in specialist gastroenterology, demonstrable competence aligned to GRS and JAG KPIs such as a colonoscopy completion rate above 90%, and a proven track record of patient-centred care. Strong communication, leadership and mentorship abilities are essential, together with a commitment to continuous professional development and service improvement. The post is permanent, full-time or part-time, with flexible hours of 20–30 hours per week over 23 days, and a competitive salary dependent on experience.
