This role offers a fixed-term appointment within the orthopaedic knee team at Royal Cornwall Hospital, working under the supervision of Mr I.P. Pengas. The position focuses on soft tissue knee surgery, including ligament reconstruction, meniscal procedures, osteotomies and joint preservation techniques. The successful candidate will gain exposure to high-volume surgical lists and clinics, including elective and acute knee care, radiology multidisciplinary team meetings and complex knee cases. Opportunities to undertake additional independent lists and weekend clinics are available following competency assessment. The fellowship aims to develop independent practice within 12 months, supporting progression toward consultant-level competence through structured training and research engagement.

Applicants must hold full General Medical Council registration with a licence to practise and possess FRCS (Ortho) alongside relevant orthopaedic training. Essential experience includes documented work in soft tissue knee surgery and audit methodology. Desirable criteria comprise prior publications and ATLS provider certification. The role provides a salary of £76,582 per annum, inclusive of standard NHS pay scales, with a 12-month fixed-term contract starting in September 2026.
