About this role
Support Worker - Roston is a permanent role based at the small, welcoming two-bedded short-break home in Camborne, Cornwall, which is regulated by OFSTED and provides respite for children and young people with learning disabilities and complex health needs. The position sits within Children’s Services and involves contributing to a warm, homely environment that meets each child’s emotional, physical, cultural, religious and spiritual needs.
The Trust is seeking candidates with an NVQ 3 in Child Care or a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Social Care, plus experience of caring for children with health needs or learning disabilities and a background in health, social care or education settings. Essential skills include competent IT use, good listening, physical fitness to follow moving-and-handling and behavioural-support plans, knowledge of food-hygiene procedures and the ability to work flexibly, including weekends, bank holidays and nights. Desirable experience includes prior work in residential short-break provision and a Level 3 safeguarding qualification. The post follows the Agenda for Change pay scale at Band 3, with a salary of £25,760 to £27,476 per annum, and offers the opportunity for continued training and professional development within a large NHS community and mental health provider serving Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
